Changing Minds is an ongoing substance use campaign in Northern Larimer County. The campaign breaks down barriers to care by showing the science behind addiction. To confront the community stigma surrounding substance misuse, I chose the material analogy of a string. This way I could emphasize the pathway to treatment "detangling" and show that those who live with addiction are no different than you or I.
The campaign launched with a language guide for those on the front-lines of the health crisis of addiction. The guide offered bias flipping language to de-stigmatize the issue and start an internal conversation about our social perceptions of substance use disorders.
